At the Heartland Conference Retreat Center, “Oakwood,” is the name of the main building that houses the dining room, conference rooms, offices, etc. As you leave Oakwood, these words are above the exit: “What happens here changes the world” (see image above).
When we returned from E. Asia, we wanted to continue impacting others for Christ. There are many ways in which this can be done. We learned we could continue to impact others by supporting those who minister to the individuals who come to these camps, retreat centers, conference centers, homeless shelters, children’s homes, etc. It is at these places where SOWERs help by doing the work that allows the staff to have a more direct impact on those individuals.
The words above the door put what we do into perspective. The ~170 ministries that SOWERs are assisting throughout the US and Canada have been called by God to reach out in various ways to the communities surrounding them. We are extremely grateful that we can continue to glorify our Father in heaven through the work we do, and hopefully, that work will change the world!
