To Work We Go

“Moses summoned … every skilled person in whom the Lord had put skill
everyone whose heart stirred him to volunteer to do the work.”
(Exodus 36:2)

SOWERs is not the only RV-related, Christian volunteer organization. There are many. Two other groups will be represented this month at Riverbend Retreat Center in Glen Rose, TX.

One is Roving Volunteers in Christ’s Service (RVICS). From their website: “RVICS is a volunteer non-denominational Christian ministry with a heart to serve the Lord during the years leading up to retirement and beyond. Our missionary teams provide a wide variety of maintenance, service, and construction assistance to needy non-profit Christian organizations.” (Very much like SOWERs!)

Commonly known as TBM, Texas Baptist Men, the other group that will be here, “Empowers Christians just like you to take on the biggest challenges around the globe, changing the world one radical act of service and compassion at a time.”

There is a lot of work needed at Riverbend as does every other ministry where we’ve volunteered. Riverbend is extremely blessed to have such a large, diverse group of folks arriving to help this month. Our SOWER team of two couples will be helping to hang FRP and paint in the allergy-free kitchen area. When finished, we will be hanging doors and continuing with the reconstruction of Cedar Bluff Lodge which was heavily damaged by fire last year. It is our understanding that the other two groups will be working on other needed projects throughout the camp.

We look forward for the next two months to helping this ministry continue to “… provide a place of refuge where people experience Christ.” 🤠🤗

Sounds like you have your work cut out for you. Praying much will be accomplished with safety in mind! Ya’ll stay strong, represent our group well (which I know you already have) and have fun too! See you end of next month unless we take a notion to run down yonder!
