As we related this past summer, we had an issue with the ABS on our truck. We made it safely to Lindale, TX, from Idaho and had it repaired in late September. Within days of that repair, we noticed a small oil leak under the truck’s oil pan. Bruce crawled under the truck and figured we had an oil pan gasket failure but could not confirm. The leak was only a few drops, but because of a lack of confidence in the local dealer, he was unsure where to take it for repair.
Then, toward the end of November Bruce’s almost 10-year-old laptop seemed to be entering into its last stages of life. Apple computers are not usually known for the “Blue Screen of Death.” However, he was almost daily getting the “black screen of restart”! It was time to get a new computer. Ouch, that was an unplanned expense.
Last week, after talking with a few folks, Bruce finally decided to take the truck to a local diesel repair facility rather than the dealer to repair the oil leak. This repair shop has good reviews and was recommended by a couple of others. As you can see from the image above, we are still without our truck. It turns out the leak was not just limited to the oil pan, but also the engine’s rear main seal needed replacement. Upon removing the transmission to gain access to the rear seal, the mechanic discovered torque converter bolts that were improperly installed. Now, they are trying to source a new torque converter. Ouch, another unexpected expense with Christmas just around the corner. 😒
Our “home” seems rather empty without our trusty steed tucked under the RV cover. But we know that “… all things work together for good …” We’re not sure why we seem to have these rather sudden expenses, but we don’t need to know the why. We trust that He will provide (and He has in so many ways)! As Bruce prepares this update, we await the call that they have located the needed parts. In the meantime, friends are stepping up to help us go get groceries! 🤠🤗

So, guess what you’re getting for Christmas! One year, we got RV tires in our stockings (beside our stockings)! I wanna believe God was protecting you from a major breakdown while traveling. All things do work together for our good. Our truck is available if you need transportation.

We we could help, however, we are a bit out of the way. However, this year Laura’s Birthday, Christmas and Anniversary gift is a new vehicle. A 2016 Ruby Red Jeep Patriot. Fortunately for me, it is only my Christmas and Anniversary present! 😂
