He Shelters Us

He will shelter you with his wings;

you will find safety under his wings.

His faithfulness is like a shield or a protective wall.”

(Psalm 91:4, NET)

Last week as our travel day approached the temperatures started to drop as predicted. Then it started to rain. Some places received 1” of rain, other places near us received 2”! The temperature continued to drop and the rain turned to freezing rain. Ice formed on our trailer and truck. Then there were a few snow flurries. Schools and businesses shut down; news media asked people to stay home and off the ice-covered roads. No, we were not moving to our new project on schedule!

For two days, we hibernated in our trailer. The outdoor temperatures barely got to freezing during the day and then plunged to 15F at night. The puddles of water on our slide awnings froze solid. Even the doors on the truck froze shut. Thankfully, we had two small heaters and plenty of propane to keep us warm. We were also able to keep our trailer’s plumbing from freezing. On Friday, the temperatures began to climb, and on Saturday our trailer’s exterior thawed enough for us to pull our slides in and move to the International ALERT Academy in Big Sandy for our February project.

As usual, we hit the ground running on Monday morning. For the past three days, the men have been remodeling both a men’s and a women’s bathroom in the gym while the ladies have been working in the sewing room, mending and altering table skirts and drapes. The young men who come to ALERT Academy all have uniforms that must be altered, patches sown on, etc. So, the ladies will be kept busy!

We are extremely thankful for His protection during this winter event and our travel to ALERT, as well as while we’ve worked. We had no damage from the storm, no difficulty on our travel day, and we were only one day late in getting to our project. He truly does shelter us under His wings!  🤠🤗

This week’s Blessings, Prayer Requests, and Schedule are here.
