“I was ignorant and lacked insight;
I was as senseless as an animal before you.
But I am continually with you; you hold my right hand.
You guide me by your wise advice, …”
(Psalm 73:22–24, NET)
Katie said at the end of a long, busy “spring cleaning day” last weekend “I found this by my side of the bed while I was cleaning the carpet. Do you know where it might have come from?” The sheared head of a screw she placed in my hand is never a welcome sight in an RV. 😳
A short investigation of the bedroom slide mechanism revealed not one, but two sheared screw locations (see picture above). The bodies of the screws are still embedded in the wall. As I retracted the slide, I discovered the second screw head lying on the carpet. This was not something I wanted to see just one week before heading to Idaho Falls to spend time with our son’s family and Katie’s sister.
Just the day before I had mentioned to Katie that I was thankful to have a solid foundation in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other systems. Without this knowledge base, it would be extremely difficult to keep up with the various needed repairs. (On Friday and Saturday I completed the annual preventative maintenance on our two air conditioner units, did a minor repair on our TV antenna, replaced two tail lights that seemed to be on the verge of failing, installed a storage tube for a tool, and washed/waxed 1/2 of the trailer, while Katie cleaned the carpet throughout the trailer, cleaned blinds, did laundry, cooked, etc.)
Looking at the access to the slide actuating assembly (see image below) I am not sure how I am going to fit in there to make the needed repairs. Yet throughout Scripture, we read that God is right there with us. As in the case of the psalmist, we must remember to walk with Him too! When we are with Him he will hold our hand and give us the wisdom needed to accomplish that which He has called us to do. We need a healthy dose of that wisdom and knowledge along with His help in making this repair happen correctly. 🤠 🤗
