Camp is a Go!

We started our new ministry work with SOWER (www.sowerministry.org) in the fall of 2019. We’ve worked at about 18 ministries since then. In March 2020, the COVID pandemic shutdown camp visitor operations (but not maintenance work) in most of the ministries where we volunteer. It has been an interesting SOWER career thus far, working in camps that have no campers!

Thankfully that has begun to change. Camp Timber-lee has been in almost full operation while we’ve been here. These past two weekends have seen a huge influx of families arriving in their RV’s or with tents for their planned campouts and to enjoy the many retreat activities this camp has to offer.

Our work has not changed much with this weekend’s inundation of people since we help behind the scenes (though the gals have been helping in the kitchen this past week with food prep). We will continue with our projects for the camp this coming week, and look forward to the return of the native deer, cranes, and wild turkeys that forage just beyond our front door each day; (you can see the five turkeys and three deer in the center of the image below, but you’ll have to look closely for the deer!).

This camp has been a beautiful place to work. Though we would love to return here someday, there are so many needy camps and conference centers all over the States. We are working on developing a different personal strategy that will help us locate and take us to those camps needing the most help but are not getting many volunteers. 🤠 🤗

This week’s Blessings, Prayer Requests, and Schedule are here.
