Working in the Garden

The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden …

to work it and keep it.”

(Genesis 2:15, ESV)

It was clear from the beginning of humankind and the first book of the Bible that we were created to work. God placed man in a garden (or orchard) and was told to take care of it. As the population grew, different jobs developed. But the bottom line was the same: we were created to work.

We have been called in this season of life to work behind the scenes at different ministries throughout the USA. Sometimes that which we’re asked to do seems far behind the scenes! But every ministry has work that needs to be done, and sometimes that is just taking care of the plants around the buildings.

This month we’ve been working to clean out long-neglected landscaping around the buildings at the Mercy Ships Training Center. The staff here is short-handed and keeping these areas looking nice has by necessity fallen to a lower priority. Thankfully, we’ve been able to come alongside and help these hardworking folks get caught up.

We will be here just a few more days. Then, we will have a few days of rest before making our way to Lake Lavon Camp near Allen, TX where we will spend the next two months. We have no idea what we will be doing there, but look forward to our annual return to this project and supporting them in their mission to reach the lost!  🤠🤗
