We Are Blessed

Taste and see that the Lord is good!

How blessed is the one who takes shelter in him!

(Psalm 34:8 NET)

For the past year, since getting our bikes and carrying them in the trailer’s hitch, we’ve been concerned about the hitch design. It was only rated for 150#’s and we made sure we stayed below that requirement. Even then, the design allowed for extreme flexing as we traveled down the road.

While visiting our friends in Pasco, their son-in-law agreed that it was a poor design. As he said, “It is not a matter of if, but of when, it will fail.” He had the ability, the tools, much of the materials needed, and enough time to help us build a new hitch. When he offered, we eagerly accepted.

After removing the old hitch and completing the fabrication of the new hitch, we discovered the receiver part of the old hitch was cracked (lower left and right corners in image above). It was most likely caused by the constant bouncing up and down from road vibration. We doubt it would have lasted much longer, and we could have easily had our bikes dragging behind our trailer as we unknowingly traveled along.

We consider ourselves exceedingly blessed to have discovered this problem while visiting someone who could quickly and easily help us. The new hitch is installed and is very robust. It will serve us well! As the Psalmist wrote, we are certainly blessed when we take shelter in Him!
