Unscheduled Events

“A person plans his course,
but the Lord directs his steps.”
(Proverbs 16:9)

When I (Bruce) got into the truck after church and started it, I was presented with a message on the instrument panel: “Low Beam Headlight Out.” Ugg, I thought. I had other plans for Sunday afternoon and replacing this headlight was not one of them!

Two years ago the same message showed up while at Katie’s nephew’s home in Franklin, TX. I could not replace the headlight right then and had to wait until a suitable opportunity allowed the disassembly of the front grill etc. I do not like driving with a headlight out; it just goes against my nature.

As I thought about the week ahead, all the work needed at the SOWER office, and the high potential for severe weather next weekend, I realized that replacement that afternoon was the best option. It was a beautiful afternoon. O’Reilly’s Auto Parts was not too far away and had the bulbs. I knew what needed to be done. However, I was not looking forward to having to remove so much of the front end (as seen in the picture above).

Thankfully, the task was completed in about an hour or so; it was not as bad as I remembered it. But it did remind me that we may lay out our plans but ultimately it is the Lord who will direct our steps. It was a good reminder to remember to go with the flow! 🤠🤗
