Time for an Update!

On October 22, we posted an update to our blog about the alligators at the campground where we were staying. It’s been so long since that update we thought we’d better let you know that no, the alligators did not get us! 🤣

We arrived at the SOWER office safe and sound, got settled in, and enjoyed the weather for a day or two. Then it got cold! Winter cold! Freezing temperature cold! 🥶 Thankfully, we were able to get the furnace control board replaced and the furnace operational before the freezing weather set in! What a blessing! Now, this past week we’ve been enjoying temps in the 80’s! Welcome to the Texas Fall season, as our daughter frequently reminds us! 😄 

It has been over a year since we worked in the SOWER office. Although the office routine has not changed much, it is still mentally fatiguing relearning all that must be done to keep this ministry of over 600 active SOWER couples, and 170 different project ministries running! 

While we’ve been hard at work in the office, another group of SOWERs has been hard at work building our new guest house and meeting area. This building will also house laundry facilities and a meeting room for the five-site RV park. It has been fun meeting more SOWER couples with whom we’ve not worked before. 

In the office, we’ve been working alongside the other couple with whom we will rotate four months on, and four months off. We will work this schedule for the next 18-24 months so we can still work on other projects and see our families located in other parts of the States. During this period we and the SOWER trustees will decide if this should continue in this manner or if changes need to be made. 

We will be here in the office for another couple of weeks and then we will head to Princeton, TX to be near our daughter and her family for the Christmas season. As you can see from our schedule we will be at the Riverbend Retreat Camp and Conference Center for Jan and Feb 2024, and then we will return to the office for our 4-month rotation. 

Please pray for clear minds to absorb all we need to effectively run the office and wisdom to do the correct things! 🤠🤗
