Serving the Saints

“… God is not unjust so as to forget your work

and the love you have demonstrated for his name,

in having served and continuing to serve the saints.”

(Hebrews 6:10, NET 2nd ed.)

As I (Bruce) worked in the Cedar Bluff Lodge Gathering Room and looked out over the countryside I began thinking about the people that would come here. Would they be able to focus on the Lord Who “… owns the earth and all it contains, the world and all who live in it” (Psalm 24:1)? Or, would they focus on faulty drywall installation and poor remediation efforts?

The vision of this retreat center is that “Riverbend provides a place of refuge where people experience Christ” (Riverbend Retreat). I realized that I was not just helping to restore a damaged building but I was a part of helping those who come here experience Christ.

Cedar Bluff Lodge was heavily damaged last year by a fire. One end of the lodge had to be torn down to the concrete slab. A contractor was hired to rebuild the rooms, but the restoration of the gathering room was left to the SOWERs who would volunteer here.

The two January couples had not been able to spend much time on this repair due to the more critical emergent work that occurred the first two weeks of the project; (http://alongthewalk.com/leak-repair/). Last week we were able to spend a little more time putting on a second coat of drywall mud but we were unable to do much more.

In February, the four SOWER couples will install 3 double and 4 single doors in and around the Gathering Room. Hopefully, we will be able to further the room’s restoration during the month in a way that allows those who come here to focus on Him. But we know that our Father will not overlook the work we can complete in our service to the saints. 🤠🤗

This week’s Blessings, Prayer Requests, and Schedule are here.
