“And we have different gifts according to the grace given to us. …
If it is service, he must serve; …”
(Romans 12:6–7, NET)
It is hard to believe we have only four more workdays until this project is completed. The camp needed many small things repaired, or assistance with ongoing staff-type work.
The men have repaired broken games, such as the air hockey table above, and carpet ball boxes (see additional pictures, link below). They have installed a dusk-to-dawn lighting control switch on the bell tower that is about 20’ in the air and cleaned and straightened the shop. They have built and installed tee boxes for the 9-hole Disk or Frisbee Golf course.
To add unanticipated variety to their work, they helped the camp recover from a near catastrophe when a pressure tank fell over in the valve/pump pit and broke the main water supply line to the camp. Power had to be quickly shut off to the pit as it was rapidly filling with water from their 40,000 gallon supply. The valve upstream of the broken line had to be located in the muddy water and shut; (thankfully, the camp director jumped in to shut that valve as he knew where it was hidden under ~2 feet of water!). Equipment was quickly set up to suck out and drain the pit. Amazingly, repairs were completed by the end of the day and fresh water was restored to the camp!
This camp is the first project at which we’ve worked where they supply bedding for the guests. That means when they leave, there are mounds of sheets, towels, etc. needing to be washed. The ladies spent the first couple of days each week doing laundry and then moved to paint projects. Last week, it was painting wooden benches and Adirondack chairs on the snack bar patio area. We all are definitely using our gifts of service to help the camp! 😄
This week the men plan to repair the gutters they cleaned last week and then paint the back wall of The Tabernacle. The ladies will once again do more laundry and then do more painting of benches and decks before the end of the week.
On another note, we’ve plotted our course to our next project and plan to leave for Wisconson, Sat., Aug 21. Although prepared to head out, we are not eager to leave. This camp is located in a beautiful setting, the staff is wonderful, and we would love to return if the Lord is willing to send us here again! 🤠 🤗
This week’s Blessings, Prayer Requests, and Schedule are here.

Is it not amazing how God can use “even us”! And sometimes I think what if we had not answered the call. Yes, they would have found someone to do the job, but we would have missed out on a blessing and “being” a blessing. So, I am putting on my paint clothes and will stain deck today……yes, it will be beautiful when finished!
Thanks for the update. God has his people in many locations. You all have met some really great servants of the Lord. The Lord protect you as you go to the next location.
