Let Your Light Shine

In the same way, let your light shine before people,

so that they can see your good deeds

and give honor to your Father in heaven.”

(Matthew 5:16, NET)

One of my (Bruce) life verses is “In the same way, let your light shine before people, so that they can see your good deeds and give honor to your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16, NET) I have always wanted to live my life in such a way that it honors our Father in heaven. (Want to, and actually doing it, are far apart … but I try).

When we arrived at Youth Haven Desert Ranch on March 05, I took a couple of hours and installed additional lighting in the basement of our trailer. While doing so, the team leader saw what I was doing and asked if I would be willing to help the camp with some electrical work. “Sure” I responded, not knowing that I would quickly become the camp electrician for the duration of this project! 😄

It has been fun getting my hands back into the practical aspects of electrical maintenance and repairs as the bulk of my work thus far has been installing light fixtures. While working on these small projects it has given me plenty of time to think about my life verse: “Let your light shine …”

Installing all these different lights in different locations and configurations has given me insight into how we, as unique individuals, can let our lights shine. There are multiple ways, configurations, styles, etc. of letting our light shine in a way that glorifies God.

Katie and the ladies are letting their light shine through disassembling and painting the large signs at the entrances to the camp and on the chapel’s bell tower. They’ve also been painting other things around the camp such as adobe fences and cacti. We can glorify our Father through physical work, or as we did in E. Asia, through teaching His word and mentoring others.

No matter what He calls us to do, there are many ways we can glorify our Father in heaven! 🤠 🤗

This week’s Blessings, Prayer Requests, and Schedule are here.
