Lake Retreat Camp

He covers himself with light as if it were a garment.

He stretches out the skies like a tent curtain,

and lays the beams of the upper rooms of his palace on the rain clouds.

He makes the clouds his chariot, and travels along on the wings of the wind.”

(Psalm 104:2–3, NET)

He makes the clouds His chariot …” This verse is a wonderful way to view the many and almost constant clouds above Lake Retreat and the camp along the lake’s south shore. “… The beams of the upper rooms of His palace on the rain clouds” is another apt description of this beautiful and frequently overcast setting. Lake Retreat Camp, nestled in the mountains southeast of Seattle, WA, is thus frequently covered with clouds.

However, we will not let these overcast skies dampen our enthusiasm for helping the folks at the camp. As with most Christian camps and retreat centers across the USA, they have been hard hit with the consequences of the pandemic. Staff reduced to an absolute minimum and limited income means needed maintenance is often put off and facilities slowly deteriorate.

As we write this update on our first day of this project, we jumped right in and spent the day repairing four (4) doors on the dining hall entrance (Bruce and fellow SOWER, Jim), and developing a list of needed repairs and cleaning for one of their several buildings (Katie and fellow SOWER, Candy).

It may rain and be overcast a lot here this month, but we are not going to let the lack of sunlight allow our biological batteries (that Katie says are solar-powered!) to run down! We look forward to doing whatever we can to help this camp staff continue to accomplish their God-given assignment to reach those in the greater Seattle area. 🤠 🤗

This week’s Blessings, Prayer Requests, and Schedule are here.
