February Project Update

His Hill Bible School, normally home to 50 full-time students, has 65 students this year! It is a 1-year program targeted for high school graduate students during their gap year before college. The school is located along the Guadalupe River near Comfort, TX, and was established in the mid-’70s.

The school also runs a summer camp and that is where we are helping for the month of February. We are making new benches to replace the worn-out benches located outside each of the cabins at the camp (see picture below). The camp is located about 1/2 mile down the road behind our trailer.

The new benches (see picture below), are made from 2×4 rough cut cedar. They are 8’ long and about 9” wide. When we saw the prototype of what we are to make, we remarked that they looked a bit uncomfortable to sit on. However, our host from the school noted the students are young and their bottoms are much tougher than ours!  🤣

We will make 29 benches and then stain/ treat them.  On our first day, we were able to build six of the new benches. Once they are made and stained, we are not sure if our host also wants us to begin fabricating the bases for the benches. The old benches are supported by telephone poles buried in the ground. We understand they may replace the rotting poles with steel posts buried in concrete. Hopefully, if we get far enough before the end of the project to actually install them we will get some help from the students!  🤠 🤗

This week’s Blessings, Prayer Requests, and Schedule are here.
