Busy But Fun!

After building several garbage can containers and staining picnic tables this past week, what did we do with our Labor Day weekend? Besides doing the normal life stuff like the mundane chores of laundry, house cleaning, etc., we finished our kitchen island lighting fixture remodel!

RV’s, both motor homes and trailers, are often decorated in historically unexciting browns and tans. We are not sure why this is, but we’re on a campaign to change that! We’ve previously covered our window valances with a turquoise and white marbled fabric and covered the dining room chairs in turquoise upholstery fabric. We will brighten things up a bit! 😄

The bathroom fan motor stopped working recently. In order to prevent mold and keep the inside humidity down, we really needed this fan to function correctly. New fan motors are currently back-ordered or impossible to get, so Bruce decided to dig back into his marine engineering days and DC motor theory to see if he could revive the motor.

It did not really take much theory, but just a little lubrication and cleaning of electrical contacts. The vent fan is now back in operation, hopefully sucking out all the hot, humid air from the shower! 😄

As a child, Katie loved reading Laura Ingalls-Wilder’s books. One of those books, Little House on the Prairie, was the title of a popular TV program loosely based on her books. We did not want to work the whole holiday, so we took a day and headed west to the Little House on the Prairie Museum in Independence, KS. It was interesting getting a visual reference to what Ingalls-Wilder wrote about from her childhood memories.

The museum was not too far from a friend’s childhood home in Neosho Falls, KS. A couple of weeks ago, she challenged us to find this tiny town on a map. So, we decided we would surprise her and actually drive there! It was a tiny town!! But we enjoyed seeing where she grew up and learning a few more things about the town in the process!

Now we’re getting ready to go back to work at Camp Barnabas! We sure found a bunch to do on our holiday! 🤠 🤗

This week’s Blessings, Prayer Requests, and Schedule are here.

You all are amazing. I think working hard helps keep you young. What do you think? Maybe yes and maybe no. I will be praying for you.
