“…I saw the sovereign master seated on a high, elevated throne.
The hem of his robe filled the temple.”
(Isaiah 6:1, NET)
In Isaiah 6:1-8, the prophet records his amazing first-hand experience with God. I cannot imagine how I would react in that same situation! Isaiah was so overwhelmed with what he experienced that when he overheard God’s question on whom to send, Isaiah blurted “Here am I, send me.”
Oswald Chambers writes: “When I am brought into relationship with God, I am in the condition Isaiah was in. Isaiah’s soul was so attuned to God by the tremendous crisis he had gone through that he recorded the call of God to his amazed soul” (Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest: Selections for the Year (Grand Rapids, MI: Oswald Chambers Publications; Marshall Pickering, 1986)).
Isaiah was “so attuned to God by the tremendous crisis he had gone through…” We hope that we are so attuned to God that we can hear His call. We try to hear that call each time we look at what SOWER ministry project(s) we are to serve.
SOWER projects are a great way to stay physically active and we enjoy this aspect of our work. If you have followed us over these past 2+ years, you will have seen how we use a lot of our muscles to paint, climb ladders to roofs, hang siding, clean dorms, etc. We do get physically tired. But, we don’t use our “brain muscle” quite as much!
Last fall we felt called to help in the SOWER office in Lindale, TX. So, this month we are learning that we’re not sure which is harder: using body muscles or brain muscles. We’ve offered to “learn the ropes” of managing the office so that, along with three other couples, we can give our hard-working SOWER office volunteers time off through the year. We’ve learned that they manage A LOT of things in the office and learning to do this is a huge task!
We are only one week into this month’s project and are feeling a bit overwhelmed. Please pray for wisdom and mental stamina as we continue to absorb as much as we can on how to take care of the many office responsibilities. 🤠🤗
This week’s Blessings, Prayer Requests, and Schedule are here.
