“Father of the fatherless and protector of widows
is God in his holy habitation.”
(Psalm 68:5, ESV)
Thankfully, we got away the first of last week for some hiking (see the link to images below). We took a five-mile walk along Lake Lowell in the Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge. We watched coyotes hunting small ground squirrels, mountain quail foraging, a nesting osprey protecting her brood, listening to the sounds of a bald eagle (never did see it), and enjoying the coolness and sunshine of the day. We were going to need this day of rest!
The Barn Sale preparations began in earnest on Tuesday and accelerated in pace as the week wore on. Friday morning at 0745 AM, they were lining up at the Barn’s door, ready to rush in and claim their barn sale bargains when the door opened at 8 AM. Not only did we have quality donations from various companies, but we also had 45 gun safes donated. These had cosmetic problems and could not be sold commercially but were still in excellent shape and fully usable.
The pace was busy but steady and not too crazy fast on Friday. By the end of the day, we had exceeded last year’s total two-day sales by $2000-3000! We were so excited to see how the Lord blessed this ministry with the needed funds. We expected the pace to increase on Saturday, but it too was steady (thankfully!).
By the end of the sale at 2 PM on Saturday, we had almost doubled last year’s record sale! As we heard the final income report, there were few dry eyes in the crowd of volunteers who had come together to make this event happen. What a joy to see how the Father of the fatherless provided so generously!
This week we are finishing up our bookshelf construction project for the girls’ dorm and preparing to head to WA and our next project. We plan to leave this Saturday for Lake Retreat in Ravensdale. WA. However, we will definitely be making a several-day stopover at our wonderful friends’ farm in Pasco, WA on the way. Since returning from E. Asia in 2019, this has become an annual event! 🤠 🤗
This week’s Blessings, Prayer Requests, and Schedule are here.
